FBS is widely used in cell culture as a source of essential growth factors that support cell proliferation and maintenance. However, its animal origin and batch variability represent significant challenges for the development of more sustainable, ethical, and scalable production systems.
Within the INOVACEL project, Cell Bloom has been developed and is currently being optimized as a microalgae-derived serum designed to replace FBS. Developing solutions such as Cell Bloom contributes to more sustainable culture media, supporting the advancement of biotechnology and cellular aquaculture.
