A closer look at microalgae in the INOVACEL project

Our work focuses on understanding and selecting microalgal biomass with suitable biochemical profiles, optimizing its processing to improve the recovery and availability of valuable compounds, and developing standardized processes that ensure consistent and reproducible results.

But their role goes even further, as they are also being investigated as part of a circular production approach, using nutrients remaining in cell-culture effluents to support new microalgal growth while contributing to nutrient removal and resource recovery.
